The theme of the 5th edition of the Edouard Maunick Poetry Prize is now known: “Rhythms”. This choice offers poets a diversity of approaches to express the varied cadences of time and life.

This competition is open to all Mauritians residing in Mauritius or abroad. Submitted poems can be written in French, English or Mauritian Creole. Applications must be sent to Immedia, rue Saint-Georges, Port-Louis, no later than December 13, 2024.

For the previous edition, 2022-2023, whose theme was “Tomorrow, My Island”, Immedia received 185 contributions, including 92 poems in French, 55 in English, 36 in Mauritian Creole and 2 trilingual poems. Under the chairmanship of Ananda Devi, the jury, composed of Shenaz Patel and Kavinien Karupudayyan, awarded the prize to Jean Lindsay Dhookit. Three Mauritian poets, Adil Aboobakar, Varsha Gujadhur and Amit Parmessur, also received a special mention. This same jury will chair the 2024-2025 Edouard Maunick Poetry Prize.

The winner of the Edouard Maunick Poetry Prize 2024-2025 will be awarded a reward of Rs 60,000.
