The funeral of the former Labor minister took place early Monday evening. The mortuary convoy left its residence in Belle-Rose to go to the Riche-Terre cemetery. Siddick Chady died Sunday evening at the age of 73, 40 days after his release from prison for corruption in the Boskalis affair. Although he maintained his innocence throughout this affair which broke out in 2006, the Privy Council rejected his appeal. He contested the fifteen months in prison imposed on him by the Supreme Court on appeal. Relatives, friends, parliamentarians and former politicians came in large numbers to Belle-Rose this Monday to pay their last respects.
