Nine deaths have been reported so far from leptospirosis and eight from dengue, Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal said at a press conference this morning.

According to Kailesh Jagutpal, cases of leptospirosis remain worrying in Mauritius, however the victims who died as a result of this disease suffered from comorbidities.

The deceased were aged between 23 and 72, including eight men and one woman. Currently, the country has 2 active cases.

The Minister of Health recommends good hygiene and avoiding accumulations of water, emphasizing that individual efforts are crucial.

As for dengue fever, the country has 46 active cases, including five patients currently hospitalized.

Active cases have been reported in Rivière-du-Rempart, Vacoas and Pamplemousses. The ministry also clarified that the density of mosquitoes has reduced thanks to the cleaning exercises carried out by the Ministry of Health.
