Who would have believed it ? A sports bag containing 2.65 kilos of cannabis, whose market value is estimated at Rs 3.1 million, was hidden by traffickers on an unused plot of land in Flic-en-Flac, without surveillance. The operation was carried out by a team from the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit (DCIU) of Port-Louis North on the morning of Thursday June 20, 2024.

It was on the basis of intelligence that the police team, accompanied by the DCIU of the Western Division, organized a hunt on the forest land in question. The bag was hidden under stone. Upon opening the bag, officers found the large quantity of cannabis. The weighing, which took place at the office of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit in Rose-Hill, established that there was 2.65 kilos. No suspects had been arrested as of Friday evening.
