Was there any wrongdoing in the award of a contract to RSL Security Ltd by the Mauritius Cane Industry Authority (MCIA)? This contract, costing Rs 70 million, was renewed four years ago. During his Private Notice Question which focused on the management of the MCIA, this Thursday, June 13, the leader of the opposition, Arvin Boolell, relied on a letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization by the audit director. According to the opposition leader, the audit report highlights that there was a “Breach of the Public Procurement Act”.

“The audit report does not reveal mismanagement,” replied Mahen Seeruttun. The Minister of Agro-industry speaks of “allegations” and emphasizes that the services of RSL Security were retained only for one site, because there were no other bidders.
