The Private Notice Question from the new opposition leader, Arvin Boolell, focused this morning on the controversy surrounding Minister Kavy Ramano, a professional notary.

The letterhead of his notarial office is used in administrative procedures concerning an EIA permit application, although as Minister of the Environment, he is no longer supposed to operate as a notary.

The Attorney General, Maneesh Gobin, who responded to the PNQ, insisted from the start of his response on the fact that the Minister of the Environment no longer acts as a notary since his appointment to this position. That said, in this matter which concerns his office, the Ministry of Environment has not granted any EIA permit so far, specifies Maneesh Gobin.
