Three police officers were injured, one of whom was admitted to intensive care. This is the outcome of a police operation which took place yesterday, Wednesday June 12, at Résidence La Chaux. A team of sleuths from the Criminal Investigation Division of Mahébourg went to this locality to arrest a resident who was actively wanted for around ten cases of theft. On the spot, the latter resisted and pulled out a sharp weapon before attacking a police sergeant.

Two other police officers, who tried to subdue the suspect, were also attacked. One of them was even bitten by the suspect.

The police sergeant, who suffers from heart problems, was admitted to the intensive care unit of Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle. The investigation continues.
