Public sector unions are calling for adjustments to the pay scale in the next Pay Research Bureau (PRB) report.

The reason: some civil servants earn a salary below Rs 16,500.

Radhakrishna Sadien, president of the Government Services Employees Association, speaks of a “major distortion” in the distribution of salaries.

Salary relativity must be restored in the public service, he says.

Correspondence was sent to the Prime Minister's office and the Pay Research Bureau on Tuesday, July 9, to this effect.
