QuestionsAccommodation-HotelsAmbre Mauritius

Hello everyone, I have recently made a reservation at Ambre Mauritius hotel after thoroughly reviewing various feedback. I have two inquiries: firstly, I would like to know the weather conditions during the first two weeks of June. Secondly, I am curious if the buffet restaurant offers a diverse range of international cuisine. I understand these questions may have been asked numerous times, but as a first-time visitor to Mauritius, my knowledge is limited to its dazzling beauty.

I’ve just returned from Ambre. Buffet is great.
Breakfast Buffet – fruit juices, cereal, amazing freshly made omelettes, crispy streaky bacon mainly but sometimes proper back bacon rashers. Pork sausages (weren’t my taste), chicken sausages, boiled eggs, freshly fried eggs, poached eggs, lots of different fresh bread to cut or ready cut to toast, freshly made pancakes with all sorts of toppings/fillings, continental cheese, ham etc. loads of pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit – melon, papaya, pineapple, grapefruit, orange, apples and freshly cut coconut. Coffee served not great but there are 2 barista corners to get cappuccino, Americana etc.

Lunch – salad selection plus cold pasta, cous cous, & other cold dishes. Freshly cooked fish, burgers, stews, curry dishes. Ham. Cheeses etc. Lots of fresh bread. Fresh fruit etc.

Dinner – as long lunch but always large hot selection – always curries, freshly made naan breads& rotisserie, most nights either roast beef (& Yorkshire pudding!), roast lamb, roast pork (with amazing crackling), veg selection a little sparse but usually mixed veg in a creamy sauce, steamed greens. Sauté, boiled, roast or chipped potato, soups, Always a hot pasta dish, one night a Chinese themed night, another an Indian themed night, but always other choices too. Pork ribs. One night bratwurst sausages – more like a nice British pork sausage – wish they had those at breakfast – very tasty!! Always a huge selection of cakes, many icecream flavours & the icecream is nice quality cartes D’Or. Plus fresh fruit etc.

We did go to the Italian which was nice for a change, but honestly preferred the buffet as there was so much choice.

Obvs different time of year but also found it chilly in the evenings.

Ensure you are happy with your room – ask for one the spa side of reception & sea view. We moved as we were miles down the end away from everything. Room we had walked straight out onto the beach & near all the amenities & beach drinks service. It’s beautiful – most of the service was top notch but don’t expect your drinks to come quickly at the bar.
It is an excellent 4* with rustic charm. I loved it.

1. Weather usually lovely – warm (say 23-26 degrees) but not too hot

2. Hotel evening buffets are usually themed by night ie one night European, one night Mauritian, one night American, one night oriental/Asian. Always something for everyone

3. Hotel buffet breakfasts cover every possible breakfast need – fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, pastries, cooked foods, continental (hams and cheeses), eggs in all possible permutations and even including curry for any Indian guests! Hotel breakfast is the best meal of the day!
