QuestionsGeneral-MiscDoes emergency call work in Mauritius

Does the emergency call option on phones in Mauritius actually function or is it merely a marketing gimmick? Has anyone tested its functionality?

It is not a gimmick though

It really works in Mauritius, it’s just that by default it set to call 112 or 911. This is not the case for Mauritius, so you have to amend that in your phone settings to **999 to call the police for emergency.**

Also you can even add **emergency contacts** to be able to call them without having to unlock the phone.
