QuestionsGeneral-MiscWorried about the wind…
Anonymous asked 9 months ago

I am going to Mauritius for the first time and planning a last-minute trip next weekend. I am trying to book accommodation but unsure if the wind will be a problem during this time of year. I was initially considering places in the north-west due to this concern, such as Trou aux Biches Beachcomber and Oberoi. However, I am now wondering if I am overthinking it and if places in the south, like Heritage Le Telfair, will be just as good. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sitting on the balcony in La Gaulette right now. 10:45 PM at 25 degrees almost no wind

Shorts and T shirt.

Also during the day at Le Morne Beach there was little wind. I was even able to fly my 249 g drone DJI Mini 2 over the sea at 500 m distance.
Although this beach is popular with kite surfers.
The day before yesterday in Mahebourg was a little more wind but not strong.

I’ve stayed in the north and south oct/nov quite a few times over the years and the south definitely isn’t as intense heat as the north but still very warm 🙂 north might be a safer option just as it does tend to be hotter and slightly less rain, it’s the east side that tends to be more windy

Mauritius is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage sites - the first is Aapravasi Ghat, where Indian labourers were brought over by the Britishers to work on the sugarcane plantations. The name translates to immigration depot. The second World Heritage Site - Mont Le Morne Brabant was once a sanctuary for the slaves who escaped their master's oppressive rule in the 18th and early 19th centuries. This mountain is a popular trekking destination and can provide trekkers with views of a lifetime.
