He will now think twice before indulging in online shopping. A 42-year-old carpenter living in Pamplemousses is disillusioned. On December 25, for Christmas, he wanted to buy himself some furniture, including a set of garden sofas. While surfing on Facebook, he came across an ad on the page “Aster Vender”, offering the sale of household goods.

Interested in the products, he got in touch with the seller, a man named Anant Jay G. On the same day, he made an initial payment of Rs 8,000 via the Juice application. In total, the buyer paid the sum of Rs 17,500. He was expecting to receive the delivery of his order the same day. But, as in many cases, the victim never received anything. He had filed a complaint at the Pamplemousses police station.

In the wake of this investigation, on June 28, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division of Pamplemousses arrested a first suspect. He is a 25-year-old resident of Phoenix. Faced with this case of online theft, this suspect denied the accusations. He was allowed to return home. The police investigation is ongoing.
