The Mauritius weather station has issued a warning of strong winds and heavy swells for Mauritius and Rodrigues, valid from 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday June 12, 2024 until 04:00 a.m. Friday June 14, 2024. A strong anticyclone in the south des Mascareignes causes windy conditions in the region.

The wind will blow from the east at an average speed of 30 to 40 km/h, with gusts reaching 90 km/h in exposed areas.

The public is advised:
1) pay close attention to thrown debris.
2) avoid maneuvering on tall buildings and other elevated structures.
3) exercise caution when driving on roads exposed to strong winds.

The sea will be rough to very rough, with swells reaching around 4 meters. These swells will influence the lagoons mainly to the southwest, south and east, and could surge along low-lying coastal areas during spring tides.

Fishermen, users of pleasure craft and the general public are strongly advised not to go out to sea and to avoid venturing along these beaches.
