Following the guilty verdict this Thursday against Bernard Maigrot in the trial for the murder of Vanessa Lagesse, Me Rashid Ahmine, the Director of Public Prosecutions, said he was satisfied with the verdict “not because a man has just been convicted, but because we think that justice has been done.”

He added: “I am even more satisfied that this trial has finally come to an end, given that the crime was committed in 2001 and that the victim's family will finally be able to mourn. » He wanted to thank the team of lawyers in his office who, he said, worked hard “to be able to get to where we are today with the result we know”.

“Of course, most likely, the defense will appeal the jury's decision. But as in all cases, we will defend before the Court of Appeal the jury's guilty verdict in this case,” emphasizes Me Rashid Ahmine.
