Tourism revenue for the month of January this year amounts to more than Rs 9 billion compared to Rs 8.4 billion in January 2023.

This is what emerges from the latest Statistics Mauritius report published this Thursday.

According to the Central Bank, maintaining dynamism in tourism for 2024 is expected, especially since in 2023, tourism revenues of around Rs 85.9 billion were recorded.

For economist, Dr Takesh Luckho, the depreciation of the rupee and inflation have an impact on tourism revenues especially when compared to the pre-pandemic period.
