An 18-year-old young woman from a village in the North went to the Grand-Baie police on Tuesday to report a rape. She said that on May 25, she went to a nightclub in Grand-Baie with her colleagues to relax. They had consumed alcohol.
At 4:30 a.m., she would have left the nightclub. She would have met a young man of 24 years old and they would have gone to the beach of Grand-Baie where they would have talked for a while. Then, around 6:30 a.m., he allegedly asked her to accompany him to his apartment. She would have been reluctant, but faced with the young man's insistence, she would have agreed to follow him.
Once there, tired, she would have sat on the bed to rest for a while. However, in her account to the police, she said that the young man pushed her onto the bed and sexually assaulted her.
The young woman maintains that she is able to identify her attacker. She will have to be examined by a police doctor. The clothes she was wearing were also handed over to police for analysis. The alleged attacker is being sought.
