A 25-year-old French woman was intercepted by customs officers from the Custom Anti Narcotics Section of the MRA, yesterday, Wednesday May 15, at Plaisance airport. 3.1 kilos of cannabis were discovered at the bottom of the suitcase she was carrying. This drug, whose street value is estimated at Rs 15.5 million, was hidden in carbon paper. The case was relayed to the anti-drug brigade, which subsequently set up a “controlled delivery” operation. But no local contact came forward. The Frenchwoman was kept in detention. She is the subject of a provisional charge of drug importation.
