This beautiful resort opened in October 2008, and has 90 one-bedroom villas, 1 Presidential Suite, 45 two-to-five-bedroom residential villas, 5 stunning Food and Beverage venues in addition to managing an off-property beach bar/restaurant, an award-winning over water Spa, 2 tennis courts and a fitness center.PurposeThe Director of Marketing is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation and evaluation of all marketingactivities including positioning, placement, Sales, Catering, pricing and revenue management, reservations, advertising,and public relations for Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita.The Director of Marketing is expected to create and implement marketing strategies and tactics that ensure that allmarketing activities focus on maintaining the unique positioning of the properties in an ever changing competitiveenvironment and achieving maximum revenue per room occupied.Job ResponsibilitiesGeneral· Builds a motivated and skilled team, leads by example and instills a culture of continuous learning and improvementamong employees; actively participates in Employee Relations activities and programmes· Actively plans and manages the career development of every employee through effective coaching, training and byinstilling company values; is concerned for employees’ continuous development and personal growth· Organizes and manages the department in accordance with company philosophy and policies, maximizing efficiencyand productivity and achieving established goals; promotes harmony between departments· Displays warmth, care and genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and internal customers; lives the GoldenRule· Demonstrates standards awareness, by setting example for standards execution, standards testing andimplementing action plans to achieve established product and service goals· Prepares annual plans and forecasts, consistently monitors and manages budgetary goals· Ensures employees adhere to the code of conduct and grooming & hygiene standards as specified in the employeehandbook· Conducts daily briefing and monthly departmental meeting (with minutes copied to division head) and participatesin meetings when invited· Provides regular and fair performance feedback to employees, formally and informally as appropriate· Is seen as a hands-on leader, assists employees in crunch times; Walks the talk· Maintains a clean and orderly work area and ensures tools & equipment are well maintained and in sufficient supply· Promotes and ensures a safe working environmentDepartmentalPeople Leadership Skills· Recruit, select and familiarize sales department personnel with the Hotels and their functions. · Train and guide sales department personnel in the performance of their duties as to specific position responsibilities, performance techniques, reporting procedures, etc. · Conduct performance evaluations and follow up with marketing department personnel. · Identify and control work relationships, areas of accountability and performance of the personnel assigned. · Determine, in conjunction with the respective General Managers, the standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned. · Recommend salary adjustments, transfers, promotions and dismissals. · Ensure proper training of assigned personnel. · Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximum employee morale and productivity. · Develop individuals for future advancement. · Perform any other cognate duties as and when required. Maximizes Hotel Revenue · Direct sales and marketing activities of the hotels to achieve budgeted goals. · Monitor and identify current and future business trends to insure profitable sales in periods of low and high demand. · Advise in negotiation to achieve maximum revenue/profit potential while satisfying client’s needs. · Oversee hotel’s group and individual room sales activities. · Be proactive and creative in developing sales and marketing solutions. Marketing · Develop the annual marketing plan. · Ensure projects are executed for all market areas as stated in the hotel marketing plan with emphasis on increasing sales and profitability. · Review market analysis and determine client needs, occupancy potential, rates desired, etc. · Supervise the installation of sales and marketing procedures and ensure the hotel is in compliance with all company Minimum Operating Standards. · Make effective use and take advantage of company provided Marketing “Tools.” · Analyse sales statistics against booked vs. consumed business. Sales · Ensure managers sell and manage his/her key accounts and territories. · The ability to contact customers in-house to promote good will and foster additional business, repeat bookings or referrals to other Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. · Demonstrate leadership through drive and effort in the area of sales territory development. · Foster good communication and work productively with all Worldwide Sales Offices. · Develop program resulting in the achievement of annual departmental goals for leads sent to other Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. · The ability to insure that the sales staff sells all hotels products. · Enhance the hotel’s community image and stay abreast of the competition, new developments and sales methods and techniques in the hotel industry to maximize sales and profitability.Managing Sales Activity · Establish and direct the development of annual sales goals; ensures goals and incentive programs are fully understood and implemented in the hotels. · Direct the reporting and appraising of results against planned objectives;Manage transient and group room commitments to ensure proper market mix. · Ensure the management of space allocation for group and catering bookings based on established guidelines and procedures. · Review sales and catering work files to ascertain a proper exchange of information between hotel and client. · Support Sales Managers by participating in solving problems of guest room and function space conflicts, salvaging of accounts which have threatened cancellation. · Ensure communication of Sales Managers between other Department Heads is maintained to maximize the guest experience and hotel profitability. · Perform all responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner, following established policy and projecting a favorable image of Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts to achieve objectives, public recognition and acceptance. · Ensure implementation all sales department action plans. · Use reports to develop a more informative data base for improved management decision making and critical evaluation of work activities. Internal Communications · Oversee the coordination of various departments’ activities related to booked business to ensure customer satisfaction and hotel profitability. · Conduct and/or attend meetings to maintain favourable working relationships among employees and to promote maximum morale, productivity and efficiency. Hotel Systems · Utilize computerized operational systems (Delphi, FO system, etc…) · Understand, utilize and supervise the installation of automated sales and reservations systems. · Set up and implement or follow existing systems to ensure that sales programs achieve projected results. Business Involvement · Lead in the budget preparation and ensure the department operates within cost constraints, i.e. direct selling costs, etc. · Continuously be aware of current and forecasted financial/business performance. · Oversee sales activities with other business activities and other divisions.Special Requirements · 5-10 years of previous employment in a related position in branded luxury segment or iconic leading properties, · Extensive international luxury hospitality sales and marketing experience at Director Level. · English required. French, Arabic, Russian languages preferred · Island resort experience and relationships with High End Leisure Travel Industry Partners is required. · Passion for creative content and engaging MARCOM. · In-depth experience of building trusted relationships with owners and asset management through delivering proactive strategies that produce proven results. · Outstanding communications and presentation skills. · Leads the strategic development and progression of marketing and sales plans and makes adjustments to these plans to ensure the successful achievement of the resorts’ goals. · Directs the implementation and development of the resorts’ marketing plans as well as corporate brand marketing programs, group sales initiatives and overall revenue generating development programs. · Property opening / repositioning experience preferred · An accredited university/college degree in business or hospitality is preferable. · High degree of data analytics literacy. · Strong Leadership Skills. · Must embrace a set of values that are anchored by a highly ethical, people valued and goal orientated value system that enriches the people, product and profit of the resort. · Assist in planning, developing and executing projects for assigned market areas to increase sales activity, volume and profit.Compliance Policies1.
