Our mission is to build and deliver market leading HCM products to make work life better!Reporting to the Vice President of Development in Mauritius, the Director of Product Development will spearhead and lead the development of specific feature sets of our award-winning always on people platform. You will oversee multiple Development Managers/Senior Managers and collaborate with Product Management as well as other internal and external partners to deliver innovative solutions.JOB SUMMARYThe Director Development provides overall strategic direction, leadership and delivery of technologically advanced and highly scalable solutions for different functional areas. They are responsible for articulating priorities and goals coupled with the overall responsibility for planning, staffing, budgeting as well as providing technical direction and influence to P&T’s technical strategy; and they oversee and drive the design, development, execution, deployment & support of new/existing products and solutions by having a robust understanding of various requirements of the product in the marketplace.In this leadership role, the Director works with Product Management, Implementation, Services, Customer Support and other internal business functions coupled with close collaboration with the other development directors. This role requires focus and precision on the details of product requirements, design and quality of deliverables, while establishing a strong vision of how the products will be used and consumed in the marketplace coupled with how the Mauritius team will have end-to-end ownership of strategic product feature sets and build the necessary capability areas to support our global footprint with a focus on EMEA.In addition, the development director works closely with support, after product delivery, to ensure that the products developed are successful with our customers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensuring the team leverages shared product knowledge and subject matter expertise to augment core skills;
• Communicating complex technical subjects with clarity to executive management and to the company at large;
• Demonstrating a robust understanding of industry trends & customer requirements; encouraging continuous learning and innovation;
• Continually striving to influence and improve the tools, technologies, and approaches used within P&T;
• Providing leadership and technical expertise in devising corrective/preventative measures that impact the product;
• Anticipating industry/customer trends and driving medium-to-long term strategy articulation;
• Establishing system SLAs for the overall functional area; building and maintaining an effective network of peers, colleagues, and stakeholders within the company to help influence direction, gather feedback, achieve team goals and remove roadblocks;
• Influencing and supporting the investigation and adoption of new and emerging software technologies and delivery practices;
• Bringing focus and precision to the details of product requirements and design, while establishing a strong vision of how the products will be used and consumed in the marketplace;
• Providing input into the team’s SRP, budget and forecasting plans for compensation, travel, rewards, headcount, and investments in tools & services; adhering to highest quality standards in product delivery while consistently utilizing best practices and advanced techniques;
• Ensuring team is structured for success, and resources are allocated to the right areas to serve the needs of the business with demonstrable ability to manager geographically dispersed team in a hybrid model;
• Creating high-level capacity plans to align with budgeting process and business needs;
• Strengthening communication across teams by working closely with senior leaders across P&T to improve cross functional collaboration both globally and regionally;
• Promoting a culture of extreme ownership and software craftsmanship;
• Providing coaching and mentoring to managers to improve performance and strengthen leadership capabilities;
• Understanding how company strategy & corporate goals drive prioritization of work within their organization and ensures the organization is delivering solutions that meet business needs;
• Evolving and driving the roadmap for Engineering teams;
• Providing input into software development lifecycle, improvement and standardization strategies, developing internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), processes, documentation, and training to ensure that team members have the skills and tools they need to support the production environments.

EDUCATIONAL/SKILL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMinimum Qualifications

• 7 – 10 years of software product development in a leadership role or related experience.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field.
• Masters or MBA is a definite advantage
• Regional and/or International exposure highly desirable
• Deep understanding of decentralized cloud architecture and platform-centric development approach in delivering scalable software products
• Demonstrable career progression from hands-on technologist to a seasoned technology leader
• Must have led and actively contributed to the development of at least one application project from clean state
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective networks and leverage them appropriately.
• Experienced in recruiting, building and managing high performing teams.
• Extensive hands-on experience with agile/scrum principles and development methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate people and activities across multiple functional areas
• Actively coach and mentor members of the team.
• Must be team player and able to thrive within a large global organization.
• Solid business acumen, management and communication skills.
• Strategic thinker, able to bring innovative solutions to critical business problems.
