Since 2015, authorities have made 24,000 drug-related arrests, and narcotics worth 15 billion rupees have been seized. This was announced by Pravind Jugnauth during his opening speech at the First Ministerial Conference on Drug Trafficking and Substance Abuse in the Western Indian Ocean, which was held this morning at the hotel Intercontinental.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Mauritius continues its fight against drugs relentlessly, specifying that most of the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry on Drugs have been implemented.

On the other hand, Pravind Jugnauth hopes that the conference discussions will contribute to defining a strategy for the creation of a regional drug observatory.
