In its latest Article IV, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) undertakes a diagnosis of the Mauritian economy and makes its forecasts for the next five years. One of the lessons of this report is that the gross domestic product should reach the threshold of Rs 1,000 billion, or Rs 1 trillion, by 2029.

Which gives food for thought to the Minister of Finance who will make his fifth Budget this Friday.
