More than a month after his extradition to Reunion Island, Jean-Hubert Célerine, alias Franklin, was sentenced to six years in prison this Thursday by the Saint-Denis criminal court.

His sentence also includes continued detention with a fine of 50,000 euros, or approximately 2.5 million rupees. Franklin was also banned from entering the country as part of his involvement in a drug trafficking network, specifically zamal, between Reunion and Mauritius. In 2019, the Saint-Denis criminal court sentenced him to seven years in prison in absentia.
