At 4 a.m. this Friday, moderate tropical storm Ialy was centered about 540 km northwest of Agalega, around the point 9.1 degrees south in latitude and 51.9 degrees east in longitude. It is moving westward at around 8 km/h and will not influence the weather on the Mascarene islands, according to the Vacoas weather station.

Forecast for this Friday

The anticyclone south of the Mascarenes maintains windy and relatively cold weather in our region. Clouds coming from the southeast influence the local weather.

The weather will be partly overcast during the day with showers on the heights and windward slopes.
The maximum temperature will be below average and will vary between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius on the coast.

Light waves will persist overnight on the heights and windward slopes. The sky will be clear elsewhere.

The minimum temperature will vary between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius in the coastal regions.

The wind blows from the southeast at 20 to 30 km/h with gusts of around 70 km/h in exposed places, gradually weakening during the day.

The public is advised to avoid maneuvering on roofs of buildings and other high structures and to exercise extreme caution on roads due to crosswinds.

The sea is rough beyond the reefs, with waves reaching 3 meters. Outings on the high seas, as well as in the Eastern and Southern lagoons, are not recommended.
