Mohammad Shuhaib Khodabocus is a young gamer passionate about fighting games. This year, he won the Gaming Arena with the game Tekken 7. Mohammad Shuhaib Khodabocus started playing video games at the age of seven. But he took a break from the age of 15 until he was 21.

The young man has always been more attracted to fighting games, particularly the Tekken saga. He then plays with members of his family, as well as friends. After playing privately for a long time, Mohammad Shuhaib Khodabocus decided, in 2023, to enter electronic sports competition (e-sport).

“I am in a group of Mauritian Tekken players. We are all friends. When there are tournaments, we register together,” the player explains to Le Dimanche/L’Hebdo.

Mohammad Shuhaib Khodabocus competed at the Gaming Arena in 2023 and again in 2024. Last year he took third place. This year, he climbed to the top of the podium. “This year, I didn’t put any pressure on myself. I said to myself, if I win, great, if I lose, too bad,” he confides.

The young player believes that in Mauritius, it is difficult to have a career as an e-sport player. “Abroad, the players are well supervised and supported. Here we have to work alongside. You have to spend a lot of time training to progress,” he says.
