The master of the ghazal, Pankaj Udhas, died this Monday (February 26) at the age of 73 in Mumbai, following a long illness, according to information relayed by the online newspaper The Indian Express. Pankaj Udhas' daughter Nayyab confirmed the sad news on social media, saying, “It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you of the passing away of Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas on February 26, 2024, following a prolonged illness.
Pankaj Udhas' representative also told indianexpress.com, “Pankaj was suffering from a prolonged illness and was not in good health for the past few days. He took his last breath this morning around 11 a.m. at Breach Candy Hospital.”
Pankaj Udhas' funeral will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27.
