Around 12 members of the gang led by singer Yannick Lafleur, alias Yankee, are in the sights of investigators from the Eastern Criminal Investigation Division. This follows a police investigation into an expedition of violence that occurred in a tuning garage located in the village of Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche on the night of Wednesday May 22. Five vehicles were damaged and the attackers threw molotov cocktails at the scene.

To date, Yannick Lafleur, of the Joker Cartel group, and two of his accomplices are behind bars. They face a provisional charge under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) and premeditated assault before the Flacq court. Criminal police investigators are on the trail of other members of this gang who had sowed terror there.

Investigators, led by Superintendent Babajee, are in possession of a video filmed by residents showing three cars leaving the scene after these incidents. The origin of this expedition of violence would be a spat in the parking area of a shopping center in Flacq, the same day. Criminal police sleuths have already requisitioned images from surveillance cameras installed in this shopping center. The viewing exercise should help to see this matter more clearly.

For his part, the owner of the house where these incidents took place declared that the attackers had the wrong address. The police investigation is continuing.
