Passenger safety: questions about bus maintenance at the CNT

Employees of the National Transport Corporation (CNT) allege that certain mechanics of the bus company do not have the adequate training to carry out maintenance on certain buses. Indeed, a Yutong bus was involved in a collision with a taxi in Nouvelle-France last Friday, following a braking problem. This problem was resolved that morning, however it persisted throughout the day. Although several incidents of this type have been recorded, it is the drivers who are often held responsible in the event of a road accident, a retired employee told RadioPlus this Thursday, May 16.

Asked about this, Rao Ramah, director of the CNT, stressed that minor accidents are frequent. He added that an internal committee meets regularly to examine these incidents, bringing together management and the drivers concerned. However, he said the company's mechanics have the skills required to ensure the buses are maintained.
