The Director of Public Prosecutions initiated a formal trial against Bruneau Laurette on Tuesday April 2, 2024, in the intermediate court. The latter, who is Maritime Security Leader and aged 49, faces two formal charges, notably “possession of phone that may be connected to GMPCS system” and “failing to make an application for an appropriate license no later than 30 days after commencement of section 45B of Information and Communication Technologies Act”.

The forty-year-old is accused of having, on November 4, 2022 in Petit-Verger, been in possession of a satellite phone, brand Iridium 9575 with battery and a USB adapter. In addition, the police accuse him of not having applied for a permit under section 24 of the Information and Communication Technologies Act for this type of device.
