QuestionsAccommodation-HotelsIf money was not an issue, where in Mauritius would you choose to live?

It's important to be within a 15-20 minute drive from the beach, in a non-flooding zone, with access to top amenities, grocery stores, and medical facilities, as well as a variety of restaurants, fiber internet, and a suburban area but still close enough to a lively downtown scene? Additionally, being no more than 20 minutes away from world-class malls and movie theaters is a must.

The east for me. Its quiter, cooler and more windy (.ie less mozzies). Also the sea is a bit more stormy which is a nice visual.

Safest district is Moka. Everywhere else is open to burglary and sloppy police. Not to mention drug addicts.

After Moka is Rodrigues.

I heard lots of ministers live in old Quatre Bornes, it may also be somehow safe there.

The coast is unbearable with tourists and music. If you want sea then the east is still relatively under developped.

And safer than the south.

Moka is the only safe answer.

Probably not the answer you are looking for but since you wrote “if money wasn’t an issue”:

I think I’d buy myself a villa on the foot of la tourelle mountain in Tamarin. Something like legend hill.

There are no words for the view plus you can hike, swim/surf, network, party and live peacefully. It’s luxurious yet chill. It’s hard to beat as far as locations go.

Mauritius is believed to be the only known habitat of the now extinct flightless Dodo bird. The bird, once present in huge numbers on the island, was flightless owing to a shortage of predators and thus remained safe on the ground. The arrival of humans in the form of sailors saw vast numbers of dodos being killed for their meat. With humans came rodents and primates who destroyed and consumed the dodo's eggs. The entire dodo population was wiped out within a century.
