For sole female traveller - Would it be safe to travel from airport in the morning using a taxi I get at airport —- are specific taxi companies or they all mostly private? Is it safe for a female to travel from airport to resort in Le Morne alone? And also use taxis for day trips from resort? And they take card pmt or cash only? I was thinkng of hiring a car for 9 days but I want to use this as downtime and go out only 3-4 days and rest of time enjoy the resort Thanks
Hi, yes it’s perfectly safe to travel alone at these times but make sure you hire official licensed taxi. You should be able to distinguish that by their yellow “Taxi” signboard.
Ive been there alone until 30 of November.Its no problem at all. At 4 o clock a.m there is daylight. Look at this Group for the Taxi prices, there is sometimes bargaining necessary.
It is perfectly safe to travel at this time to your hotel. I would suggest you ask your resort to book a taxi for you, safer and you’ll rest assured that you’ll reach safely. It’s about 55km from the airport to le morne… With a taxi, it’ll be around RS 2500 +/-
Renting a car is good but if you are not used driving on the right side, then be xtra careful… Lots of bad drivers, or need for speed drivers around!
If you feel like renting a car, a small one would do you and probable cost around RS 700/800 per day.

Hi, yes it’s perfectly safe to travel alone at these times but make sure you hire official licensed taxi. You should be able to distinguish that by their yellow “Taxi” signboard.

I would suggest you ask your resort to book a taxi for you, safer and you’ll rest assured that you’ll reach safely.
It’s about 55km from the airport to le morne… With a taxi, it’ll be around RS 2500 +/-
Renting a car is good but if you are not used driving on the right side, then be xtra careful… Lots of bad drivers, or need for speed drivers around!
If you feel like renting a car, a small one would do you and probable cost around RS 700/800 per day.
