QuestionsTourism-AdviceIs it safe for a young, solo female traveler to stay in Mauritius?
Anonymous asked 7 months ago

Hello, I am thinking about visiting Mauritius solo for 2 months. Is it safe for a young, solo female traveler to go there ? I do not have a huge budget for that, so I am thinking about renting an apartment with a kitchen to stay. What are the main areas, where should I stay ? Should I travel around the island (in terms of the accommodation) or book only 1 city to stay? What is the best and the most affordable way to find a "home" for 2 months (private bathroom, fast internet for working and a kitchen is a must). Or are there some working areas as well to consider? Thankful in advance for your advice :)!

Hello! We’re in Mauritius for the second time this year and this is one of the few countries I would travel alone. It’s very safe compared to the rest of the world. We stayed in the north but hired a car for part of our trip and explored the island. If you’re looking for a budget safe accommodation in the North close to shops and the beach try https://abnb.me/dNDSQ6fiOFb

Better rent an apartment for your safety, if you need to move around for work then find one in the Centre, if not then any part in the West or North is good if you seek entertainment after work in the evenings. Just be on your guards because you’ve mentioned you will be a solo female traveller you might get many messsages. For any more info feel free to contact me.

You can find good accommodation renting options on the Airbnb App… Most places around the island are safe.
