Stay on the east coast (Belle Mare) if you like it quiet and if you like swimming or beachcombing. You then are not too far from Grand Gaube, Ile au Cerf or Port Louis. If you can split the time, stay also in South. If you like seafood, go to Amigo restaurant for a delicious and romantic dinner. It depends on what you like but next time I go to Mauritius, I will stay in Bellemare at some nice resort if I can.

The worst part of travelling to Mauritius is for me the long drive from point A to point B. everything is so far from the airport in the first place. Also, I was disappointed with the crowded public beaches and the rocks and corals in the water (especially at Le Morne or flic en Flac). If you can’t walk straight on the beach barefoot, it’s not fun at all. Again, bellemare or Trou d eau Douce or grand gaube are your best bet in that order.
