The debate surrounding the motion of lawyer Pazhany Rangasamy, who is challenging the process of re-registration of SIM cards, continued in the Supreme Court on Thursday, July 4.

A representative of the Commissioner of Prisons was called to the witness stand in the Supreme Court on the same day. He provided figures on seizures of mobile phones in prisons.

According to Pazhany Rangasamy, despite the measures taken, mobile phones still find their way into prison.

Advocate Pazhany Rengasamy also disputed the fact that it is mandatory to provide a colour photograph for this process. IT expert Parmesh Pallanee who was also heard today explained that there are dangers with photographs, especially since smart cameras, such as the Safe City network, can identify a person in a crowd.
