The Red Bull Car Park Drift, a motorsport discipline that is widely followed in the automotive world, will take place for the very first time in Rodrigues and the event will take place over two days, on July 27 and 28. Saturday's event will take place at Port Mathurin Station and Sunday's event will take place at SAJ Square.
This Thursday, July 4, no fewer than two cars took the boat to the sister island: Roshan Ramdin's Lexus, a small 700 horsepower racing car, and Shezad Soorabally's German, his BMW E30, multiple champion of the competition. Drifting is a sport that requires good control of all four wheels. The event takes place in front of judges who note the trajectory, speed, angle of attack and style.
Rodriguans who are passionate about motor sports will definitely be well served. Note that the previous edition saw the consecration of Xavier Lachkar and his BMW E36. Runner-up to Xavier Lachkar and unlucky due to a mechanical breakdown during the previous edition, Roshan Ramdin will try to redeem himself this year.
