There were crowds on Saturday, June 1, in China Town. Mauritians gathered to savor a variety of delicacies as the 17th edition of the China Town Food and Cultural Festival kicked off. Among them, Annlyse Ah Young Mungroosing, from Plaisance, in Rose-Hill, and her daughters Arissa, Amy and Kleeya, regulars at the festival. From traditional Chinese cakes to roast eggs, “sipek”, Chinese pink poutos and fried noodles, the taste buds were awakened. The staged shows also attracted attention. Tourists looking for culinary and cultural discoveries responded. Like Maude, her husband Julien and their daughter Meryl, who came from Belgium and were seduced by the local flavors.
