The Curepipe criminal police and the Field Intelligence Office (FIO) of the Central Division are on the trail of two housekeepers. They are suspected of having stolen jewelry from one of their employers in Midlands.

On Monday June 3, the victim, a 43-year-old businesswoman, filed a complaint of theft with the local police. In her statement, she said that gold jewelry, including bracelets, rings, a chain and earrings were taken from her house. The theft, according to her, was committed between February 10 and June 3, 2024, the date on which she noticed the disappearance of the jewelry, the value of which is estimated at Rs 962,000.

The jewelry was stored in a makeup bag that she had placed between clothes in a compartment of a sofa in the bedroom occupied by her father.

The latter told investigators that her suspicions focused on the two cleaning ladies who worked in her home. They, who both live in Rivière-des-Anguilles, have not visited the forty-year-old's house for several days. They will be arrested shortly for the purposes of the investigation.
