A torrential rain warning is in effect in Mauritius. Atmospheric conditions remain humid and unstable, favorable to the formation of active clouds on the island, indicates the weather station in its bulletin issued at midday this Sunday.

Thunderstorms are still forecast in the evening. Showers will become less frequent late tonight. The sky will be partly overcast tomorrow morning, becoming cloudy at times with showers especially on the heights.

This afternoon, showers will be moderate to heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the north-western part and on the central plateau. Pockets of fog are expected on the heights.

The maximum temperature will vary between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius on the coast. The minimum temperature will be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius in the coastal regions.

The sea is rough beyond the reefs with waves of around 2.50 meters, improving tomorrow. Outings on the high seas are not recommended.

Practical advice :

In the event of heavy thunderstorms, it is recommended:
1. to stay sheltered and avoid the plains, hiking, sea trips and not to take shelter under trees.
2. avoid places subject to accumulations of water.
3. to be very careful on the roads due to reduced visibility in showers and fog.
