Teeruthraj Hurdoyal, popularly known as Vikram Hurdoyal, was removed from the post of Minister of Agribusiness and Food Safety this evening. No official reason for his dismissal has been given so far. According to our findings, he has been accused of being “unfaithful” to the government for some time.

Vikram Hurdoyal was elected first member of constituency No.10 (Montagne-Blanche/Grande-Rivière-Sud-Est) during the legislative elections of November 2019. Elected under the banner of the MSM, this resident of Trou-d'Eau Douce had run for office in this same constituency five years earlier as a candidate for the “Youth Awakening” platform. He then obtained seventh place with an impressive score of 9,775 votes.

After his election in November 2019 and the victory of the Morisien Alliance, Vikram Hurdoyal was appointed Minister of Civil Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms. He held this position from November 12, 2019 to August 30, 2023. Following a “mini-reshuffle” last August, he was transferred to the Agro-industry and food safety position.

Vikram Hurdoyal holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the Charles Telfair Institute in 2016. Professionally, he served as Director at OTF Export Ltd/Exofruits Export Ltd in Belle Mare from 2002 until November 7 2019.

Vikram Hurdoyal also served as president of the Flacq District Council from December 2012 to 2014. He was re-elected president of the District Council in December 2016, serving until November 2019. In 2014, he was elected president of the Association of District Councils.
