The National Land Transport Authority (NLTA) will move into the digital era very soon. The heart of this transformation is based on the establishment of an integrated online platform, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This platform will allow users to carry out the majority of their administrative procedures without having to go to offices of the NLTA. The first steps will be to digitize existing records and develop the necessary applications for online management of services. National deployment of the new system will take place by June 2025.

Services available will include driving license application and renewal, vehicle registration, booking appointments for technical inspections, and paying taxes and fines. NLTA employees argue, on condition of anonymity, that “this initiative should simplify and speed up administrative procedures”. “A secure and reliable network must be deployed to guarantee the availability and security of online services,” we understand. Our sources also believe that “training programs must be put in place to enable NLTA employees to adapt to this new digital era and to offer quality assistance to users who may encounter difficulties with new technologies “.

“The NLTA digitalization project is on track. It is likely that the announcement will be made during the post-budget speech of the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Alan Ganoo, to the National Assembly next week,” it is understood at the ministry level.
