The Southern School of Music marked its 25th anniversary with a grandiose concert at the J&J Auditorium yesterday afternoon. The event featured 100 students from the school, captivating the audience with a variety of local and international songs. Among the notable performances, titles like “La Metisse” by Zulu, “Kifer To Pale Danse” by Jason Heerah, and “Move Por” by Blakkayo were particularly applauded.

Despite their young age, some students as young as 6 or 7 impressed with their musical talents, forming a symphony. In addition to the students, renowned artists such as Ludmila Ono, Maista, Gerard Louis (president of the Mauritius Society of Authors), and The Prophecy brought their energy and talent to the stage, adding a special touch to the celebration.

PPS Sandra Mayotte also honored the event with her presence.

Founded by Gervais Sauteur, the École de Musique du Sud offers free music lessons, allowing students to specialize in various instruments such as flute, guitar, keyboard, violin and drums. Lessons are held in a venue at Batelage, and the school continues to play a crucial role in developing the region's musical talent.
