Bernard Maigrot's lawyer, Me Glover, Senior Counsel, said he was very surprised by the guilty verdict pronounced by the jury – seven to two – in the trial for the murder of Vanessa Lagesse. In a brief statement to the press, the lawyer said: “I am very surprised by the verdict that must be respected. The battle lasted 23 years. It will last as long as it takes to rehabilitate the innocence of Bernard Maigrot. »
Bernard Maigrot was taken to Beau-Bassin prison after the verdict. He will have to return to the Assize Court on July 16, when Judge Lutchmyparsad Aujayeb will hear the arguments surrounding the sentence to be imposed on Bernard Maigrot.
