A police officer was assaulted by a prisoner at the Mahebourg police station yesterday. The incident occurred while the constable was escorting the 33-year-old man to his cell.
The suspect inflicted several blows on him. Another police officer then intervened and the suspect was subdued.
The Beau-Vallon resident, arrested for a case of threats, is now the subject of an investigation for assault against a police officer.
