Sanmooghen Puneeandee confessed to having extorted a sum of Rs 1.5 million from the family he held captive and assaulted at their home in Belle-Vue-Maurel last Friday.
It should be noted that the latter is the main suspect in this case and that he was arrested the day after the events.

It turns out that this case dates back to 2022 and 2023 and that a complaint was registered last year at the Pamplemousses police station.

In his complaint, a victim in this case, a civil servant, claims to have met Sanmooghen Puneeandee in 2022.
The victim, a 58-year-old man, explained that after meeting Sanmooghen Puneeandee, 25, the two men went out with friends on several occasions. Then, in February 2023, the victim and the suspect went to a birthday party together in Rose Hill, where the suspect introduced the victim to a young girl. They later visited a boarding school, and that is where the ordeal of the victim and her loved ones began.

Sanmooghen Puneeandee allegedly blackmailed the family and on several occasions, the victim was forced to hand over large sums of money to prevent compromising videos from being posted on social media. A total of Rs 400,000, Rs 300,000, and other sums were handed over on several occasions, totalling Rs 1.5 million.

During his interrogation by the Pamplemousses CID, Sanmooghen Puneeandee confessed to the facts.

Let us recall that this family was kidnapped by four individuals last Friday at their home in the North. The suspects, four in number, simulated sexual acts that they filmed with three members of this family.
