“We are more than ever in favour of a bill on political financing, but we want a good law,” said Paul Bérenger. During the parliamentary debates on Tuesday on the Political Financing Bill, the MMM leader made a “commitment to presenting a real law on the financing of political parties.”
Paul Bérenger recalled that during the previous passage of the bill in 2019, “the entire opposition, that is to say the MMM, the PTr and the PMSD, had spoken out against this bill and the constitutional amendment that accompanied it and it had not reached the necessary three-quarters majority.” And to specify that “during the debates, the opposition had insisted on the establishment of a select committee to reach a consensus, but the government had refused and the bill had fallen into oblivion.”
