This attack, involving a 51-year-old senior civil servant and her relatives, was marked by assaults and threats. The first three suspects had already been arrested over the weekend.

His name is Ibne Farhaan Ruhoonauth. He is the fourth suspect arrested in the investigation into the burglary, with kidnapping and assault, committed on the morning of Friday, June 28, 2024 at the home of a 51-year-old senior civil servant in Belle-Vue-Maurel. This 25-year-old Highlands resident was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Piton on Monday, July 1, 2024.

He appeared before the Rivière-du-Rempart court. He was provisionally charged with “larceny with more than two individuals”. This Tuesday, he will be questioned by the men of Inspector Mootoo and Sergeant Daby on his involvement in this case of kidnapping, assault and robbery with violence.

This new arrest means that the gang of four suspected perpetrators of the attack has been put out of action. When this investigation was opened, the first three suspects, Azagen Pyneandee Sanmooghen as well as Zaina Bibi Ludialiam, alias Yasmine, and Stacy Amanda Songor, were already arrested over the weekend by the Force Crime Intelligence Unit led by Inspector Mohes. The majority of the stolen items have already been recovered.

On the day of the crime, Ibne Farhaan Ruhoonauth and the three other suspects allegedly broke into the house where the civil servant lives with her relatives at Route Royale, Belle-Vue-Maurel. It was on the orders of Azagen Pyneandee Sanmooghen, suspected of being the mastermind, that the gang, also composed of Zaina Bibi Ludialiam and Stacy Amanda Songor, allegedly attacked the occupant of the premises as well as her two brothers.

Earlier, the two suspects had entered the courtyard to speak to the officer, pretending to fetch water and want to use the toilet. But as they looked suspicious, the fifty-year-old refused them access.

Without warning, they broke a pane of glass before entering the house. Very quickly, these two intruders were joined by Azagen Pyneandee Sanmooghen and Ibne Farhaan Ruhoonauth. From then on, a real scene of terror was played out between the four walls of this house.

The gang of criminals tied up the three occupants of this house. Armed with knives, they threatened the victims and searched their house from top to bottom before leaving with jewelry, phones and bank cards, among other finds. They also forced one of the victims to transfer money to them via a mobile application.

One of the women also simulated a sexual act with the three occupants of this house, against their will, while taking intimate photos. Then she threatened to make these images public if they dared to file a complaint with the police. The investigation is ongoing.
