A 29-year-old fisherman, residing in Baie-du-Tombeau, fears for his safety and that of his loved ones.

Thursday evening, this father was near his home when what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail was thrown at his house. He was able to escape and no one was injured. A 17-year-old boy was arrested following this incident amid a settling of scores.

Since Thursday evening, he no longer knows what to do. The young man is afraid to set foot in his home again. A neighborhood dispute apparently gave rise to this affair. In his account to local police on Friday, this father of three explained that at around 8:30 p.m. on the evening of this incident, he saw a local youth, aged 17, standing in front of his door. He maintains that at that time, he was only a few meters from his house and was preparing to enter the courtyard.

But as he approached his residence, he said he saw the teenager throw a flammable projectile at his house. As a result, the front wall of his home caught fire. Inside were his 62-year-old mother, his wife and his children. However, upon hearing a noise, they were able to evacuate the house. As for the fisherman, he hid in a bush while waiting for the suspect to leave the area. Then he went out to return home and saw the damage caused by this projectile. There were no injuries. On the same day, Tombeau Bay police officers, in collaboration with the DSU, ERS and CID special units, under the command of PS Beeharry and the supervision of ASP Domun, arrested the suspect. After investigation, the latter was detained in the cell of the Petite-Rivière police station.

Furthermore, another family had to alert the police regarding the actions of another young person in the neighborhood. She alleges that following the arrest of the 17-year-old, the other young person, aged 20, climbed onto her house and threw a brick, threatening her and holding her responsible for this situation. “I’m going to burn you if you don’t release him,” the suspect said. This family had to take refuge inside the house for fear of reprisals. “Mo pou fer twa aret marse lor sime…” the author added to one of the family members before fleeing. Faced with these threats, the lady fears that he will take action. She alerted the police.
